Hello everyone today we are going to share the recipe of Ela Ada.Ela Ada is an Indian sweet and traditional Kerala delicacy consisting of rice parcels engaged in a dough made of rice flour with sweet fillings,steamed in banana leaf and served as an evening snack or as part of breakfast.Hope you will be trying out our recipe,and if you like this recipe please take a moment to comment below:)
Ingredients:
- Hot water – 1 1/2 cups ( optional to adjust )
- rice flour-1 cup
- salt-to taste
- Grated ,fresh coconut-1/2 cup
- Grated jaggery-1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder-1 teaspoon
- Banana leaves
Directions:
- mix coconut, jaggery and cardamom powder with your hands very well until well combined and soft
- spread some oil all over the leaf with figures
- Make a dough with rice floor by adding hot water and salt(dough should be like chappathi dough)
- Take a piece of banana leaf and place a lemon size dough in the centre of the leaf.
- Flatten the ela ada rice dough with wet fingers to get a nice and even flattened dough. Fill the ela ada with a teaspoon of coconut jaggery mixture on one side of the flattened dough and fold from the other side and press lightly.
- Place the ela ada in a steamer or Idli cooker and steam it for 10 minutes on high heat and turn off the heat once done.
- Our ela ada is ready,you can serve it warm or at room temperature.
